st Dabar-Hayamym (1 Chronicles) — 15

The Ark Brought to Yahushalam

Daud built houses for himself in the City of Daud; and he prepared a place for the Ark of the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of Yashar'AL and pitched a tent for it.

Then Daud said, “No one may carry the Ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH but the Lauym, for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH has chosen Lauym to carry the Ark and to minister before Him forever.”

And Daud gathered all Yashar'AL together at Yahushalam, to bring up the Ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH to its place, which he had prepared for it.

Then Daud assembled the children of Aarun and the Lauym:

of the sons of Kuhath, Urial the chief, and one hundred and twenty of his brethren;

of the sons of Marari, Asayahu the chief, and two hundred and twenty of his brethren;

of the sons of Garshum, Yual the chief, and one hundred and thirty of his brethren;

of the sons of Alizaphan, Shamayahu the chief, and two hundred of his brethren;

of the sons of Habrun, Alial the chief, and eighty of his brethren;

of the sons of Uzzial, Amminadab the chief, and one hundred and twelve of his brethren.

And Daud called for Zaduk and Abiathar the Kuhanym, and for the Lauym: for Urial, Asayahu, Yual, Shamayahu, Alial, and Amminadab.

King Daud said to them, “You are the heads of the father's houses of the Lauym; sanctify yourselves, you and your brethren, that you may bring up the ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH the  𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of Yashar'AL to the place I have prepared for it.

For because you did not do it the first time, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH our 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH broke out against us, because we did not consult Him about the proper order.”

So the Kuhanym and the Lauym sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the  𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of Yashar'AL.

And the children of the Lauym bore the ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH on their shoulders, by its poles, as Musha had commanded according to the Dabar of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH.

Then Daud spoke to the leaders of the Lauym to appoint their brethren to be the singers accompanied by instruments of music, stringed instruments, harps, and cymbals, by raising the voice with resounding joy.

So the Lauym appointed Haman the son of Yual; and of his brethren, Asaph the son of Barachyahu; and of their brethren, the sons of Marari, Athan the son of Kushayahu;

and with them their brethren of the second rank: Zacharyahu, Ban, Yaazial, Shamiramuth, Yahial, Unni, Aliab, Banayahu, Maasayahu, Mattithyahu, Aliphalah, Miknayahu, Ubad-Adum, and Yaial, the gatekeepers;

the singers, Haman, Asaph, and Athan, were to sound the cymbals of bronze;

Zacharyahu, Azial, Shamiramuth, Yahial, Unni, Aliab, Maasayahu, and Banayahu, with strings according to Alamuth;

Mattithyahu, Aliphalah, Miknayahu, Ubad-Adum, Yaial, and Azazyahu, to direct with harps on the Shaminith;

Chananyahu, leader of the Lauym, was instructor in charge of the music, because he was skillful;

Barachyahu and Alkanah were doorkeepers for the ark;

Shabanyahu, Yushaphat, Nathanal, Amasai, Zacharyahu, Banayahu, and Aliazar the Kuhanym, were to blow the trumpets before the ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH; and Ubad-Adum and Yahyahu, doorkeepers for the ark.

So King Daud, the elders of Yashar'AL, and the captains over thousands went to bring up the ark of the covenant of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH from the house of Ubad-Adum with joy.

And so it was, and 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH helped the Lauym who bore the ark of the covenant of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, that they offered seven bulls and seven rams.

Daud was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as were all the Lauym who bore the ark, the singers, and Chananyahu the music master with the singers. Daud also wore a linen ephod.

Thus all Yashar'AL brought up the ark of the covenant of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH with shouting and with the sound of the horn, with trumpets and with cymbals, making music with stringed instruments and harps.

And it happened, as the ark of the covenant of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH came to the City of Daud, that Michal, Shaul’s daughter, looked through a window and saw King Daud whirling and playing music; and she despised him in her heart.
