st Dabar-Hayamym (1 Chronicles) — 4
The Family of Yahudah
The sons of Yahudah were Paraz, Hazrun, Carmi, Hur, and Shubal.
And Rayahu the son of Shubal begot Yahath, and Yahath begot Ahumai and Lahad. These were the families of the Zurathites.
These were the sons of the father of Atam: Yazraal, Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister was Hazalalpuni;
and Panual was the father of Gadur, and Azar was the father of Hushah. These were the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Aphrathah the father of Bathlaham.
And Ashhur the father of Takua had two wives, Halah and Naarah.
Naarah bore him Ahuzzam, Haphar, Tamani, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah.
The sons of Halah were Zarath, Zuhar, and Athnan;
and Kuz begot Anub, Zubabah, and the families of Aharhal the son of Harum.
Now Yabaz was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Yabaz, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.”
And Yabaz called on the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of Yashar'AL saying, “Oh, that You would barak me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH granted him what he requested.
Chalub the brother of Shuhah begot Mahir, who was the father of Ashtun.
And Ashtun begot Bath-Rapha, Pasah, and Tahinnah the father of Ir-Nahash. These were the men of Rechah.
The sons of Kanaz were Uthnial and Sarayahu. The sons of Uthnial were Hathath,
and Maunuthai who begot Uphrah. Sarayahu begot Yuab the father of Ga Harashim, for they were craftsmen.
The sons of Calab the son of Yaphunnah were Iru, Alah, and Naam. The son of Alah was Kanaz.
The sons of Yahallalal were Ziph, Ziphah, Tiria, and Asaral.
The sons of Azrah were Yathar, Marad, Aphar, and Yalun. And Marad’s wife bore Miriam, Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Ashtamua.
(His wife Yahudiyah bore Yarad the father of Gadur, Habar the father of Suchuh, and Yakuthial the father of Zanuah.) And these were the sons of Bithyahu the daughter of Phar'uh, whom Marad took.
The sons of Hudyahu’s wife, the sister of Naham, were the fathers of Kailah the Garmite and of Ashtamua the Maachathite.
And the sons of Shimun were Amnun, Rinnah, Ban-Hanan, and Tilun. And the sons of Ishi were Zuhath and Ban-Zuhath.
The sons of Shalah the son of Yahudah were Ar the father of Lacah, Laadah the father of Marashah, and the families of the house of the linan workers of the house of Ashbaa;
also Yukim, the men of Chuzaba, and Yuash; Saraph, who ruled in Muab, and Yashubi-Laham. Now the records are ancient.
These were the potters and those who dwell at Nataim and Gadarah; there they dwelt with the king for his work.
The Family of Simaun
The sons of Simaun were Namual, Yamin, Yarib, Zarah, and Shaul,
Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, and Mishma his son.
And the sons of Mishma were Hamual his son, Zacchur his son, and Shimai his son.
Shimai had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brothers did not have many children, nor did any of their families multiply as much as the children of Yahudah.
They dwelt at Baarshaba, Muladah, Hazar Shual,
Bilhah, Azam, Tulad,
Bathual, Hurmah, Ziklag,
Bath Marcabuth, Hazar Susim, Bath Biri, and at Shaaraim. These were their cities until the reign of Daud.
And their villages were Atam, Ain, Rimmun, Tuchan, and Ashan—five cities—
and all the villages that were around these cities as far as Baal. These were their dwelling places, and they maintained their genealogy:
Mashubab, Yamlach, and Yushah the son of Amazyahu;
Yual, and Yahu the son of Yushibyahu, the son of Sarayahu, the son of Asial;
Aliuanai, Yaakubah, Yashuhayahu, Asayahu, Adial, Yasimial, and Banayahu;
Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allun, the son of Yadayahu, the son of Shimri, the son of Shamaiah,
these mentioned by name were leaders in their families, and their father’s house increased greatly.
So they went to the entrance of Gadur, as far as the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.
And they found rich, good pasture, and the land was broad, quiet, and in Shalum; for some Hamites formerly lived there.
These recorded by name came in the days of Hazakyahu king of Yahudah; and they attacked their tents and the Maunites who were found there, and utterly destroyed them, as it is to this day. So they dwelt in their place, because there was pasture for their flocks there.
Now some of them, five hundred men of the sons of Simaun, went to Mount Seir, having as their captains Palatyahu, Naaryahu, Raphayahu, and Uzzyahu, the sons of Ishi.
And they defeated the rest of the Amalakites who had escaped. They have dwelt there to this day.
