2nd Dabar-Hayamym (2 Chronicles) — 22

Ahazyahu Reigns in Yahudah

Then the inhabitants of Yahushalam made Ahazyahu his youngest son king in his place, for the raiders who came with the Arabians into the camp had killed all the older sons. So Ahazyahu the son of Yahuram, king of Yahudah, reigned.

Ahazyahu was forty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned one year in Yahushalam. His mother’s name was  Athalyahu the granddaughter of Umri.

He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother advised him to do wickedly.

Therefore he did evil in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, like the house of Ahab; for they were his counselors after the death of his father, to his destruction.

He also followed their advice, and went with Yahuram the son of Ahab king of Yashar'AL to war against Hazaal king of Syria at Ramuth Gilaad; and the Syrians wounded Yuram.

Then he returned to Yazraal to recover from the wounds which he had received at Ramah, when he fought against Hazaal king of Syria. And Azaryahu the son of Yahuram, king of Yahudah, went down to see Yahuram the son of Ahab in Yazraal, because he was sick.

His going to Yuram was 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH’s occasion for Ahazyahu’s downfall; for when he arrived, he went out with Yahuram against Yahu the son of Nimshi, whom  𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab.

And it happened, when Yahu was executing judgment on the house of Ahab, and found the princes of Yahudah and the sons of Ahazyahu’s brothers who served Ahazyahu, that he killed them.

Then he searched for Ahazyahu; and they caught him (he was hiding in Samaria), and brought him to Yahu. When they had killed him, they buried him, “because,” they said, “he is the son of Yahushaphat, who sought  𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH with all his heart.” So the house of Ahazyahu had no one to assume power over the kingdom.

Athalyahu Reigns in Yahudah

10 Now when Athalyahu the mother of Ahazyahu saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal heirs of the house of Yahudah.

11 But Yahushabaath, the daughter of the king, took Yuash the son of Ahazyahu, and stole him away from among the king’s sons who were being murdered, and put him and his nurse in a bedroom. So Yahushabaath, the daughter of King Yahuram, the wife of Yahuiada the Kuhan (for she was the sister of Ahazyahu), hid him from Athalyahu so that she did not kill him.

12 And he was hidden with them in the house of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH for six years, while Athalyahu reigned over the land.
