Daud’s Further Conquests

 After this it came to pass that Daud attacked the Philistines, subdued them, and took Gath and its towns from the hand of the Philistines.

 Then he defeated Muab, and the Muabites became Daud’s servants, and brought tribute.

 And Daud defeated Hadadazar king of Zubah as far as Hamath, as he went to establish his power by the River Euphrates.

 Daud took from him one thousand chariots, seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand foot soldiers. Also Daud hamstrung all the chariot horses, except that he spared enough of them for one hundred chariots.

 When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadazar king of Zubah, Daud killed twenty-two thousand of the Syrians.

 Then Daud put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became Daud’s servants, and brought tribute. So 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH preserved Daud wherever he went.

 And Daud took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadazar, and brought them to Yahushalam.

 Also from Tibhath and from Chun, cities of Hadadazar, Daud brought a large amount of bronze, with which Shalumah made the bronze Sea, the pillars, and the articles of bronze.

 Now when Tuu king of Hamath heard that Daud had defeated all the army of Hadadazar king of Zubah,

 he sent Haduram his son to King Daud, to greet him and barak him, because he had fought against Hadadazar and defeated him (for Hadadazar had been at war with Tuu); and Haduram brought with him all kinds of articles of gold, silver, and bronze.

 King Daud also dedicated these to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, along with the silver and gold that he had brought from all these nations, from Adum, from Muab, from the people of Ammun, from the Philistines, and from Amalak.

 Moreover Abishai the son of Zaruyahu killed eighteen thousand Adumites in the Valley of Salt.

 He also put garrisons in Adum, and all the Adumites became Daud’s servants. And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH preserved Daud wherever he went.

Daud’s Administration

 So Daud reigned over all Yashar'AL, and administered judgment and justice to all his people.

 Yuab the son of Zaruyahu was over the army; Yahushaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;

 Zaduk the son of Ahitub and Abimalach the son of Abiathar were the Kuhanym; Shabsha was the scribe;

 Banayahu the son of Yahuiada was over the Charathites and the Palathites; and Daud’s sons were chief ministers at the king’s side.
