Tula Becomes Yashar'AL’s Judge

After Abimalach died, Tula son of Puah, son of Dudu, was the next person to rescue Yashar'AL, he was from the tribe of Issachar but lived in the town of Shamir in the hill country of Aphraim.

He judged Yashar'AL for twenty-three years. When he died, he was buried in Shamir.

Yair Becomes Yashar'AL’s Judge

After Tula died, Yair from Gilaad judged Yashar'AL for twenty-two years.

His thirty sons rode around on thirty donkeys, and they owned thirty towns in the land of Gilaad, which are still called the Towns of Yair.

When Yair died, he was buried in Kamun.

The Ammunites Oppress Yashar'AL

Again the Yasharalym did evil in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH. They served the images of Baal and Ashturath, and the idols of Aram, Sidun, Muab, Ammun, and Philistia. They abandoned 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH and no longer served him at all.

So 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH burned with anger against Yashar'AL, and he turned them over to the Philistines and the Ammunites,

who began to oppress them that year. For eighteen years they oppressed all the Yasharalym east of the Yurdan River in the land of the Amurites (that is, in Gilaad).

The Ammunites also crossed to the west side of the Yurdan and attacked Yahudah, Banyamin, and Aphraim. The Yasharalym were in great distress.

10 Finally, they cried out to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH for help, saying, “We have sinned against you because we have abandoned you as our  𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH and have served the images of Baal.”

11 Then 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH replied, “Did I not rescue you from the Mitzraym, the Amurites, the Ammunites, the Philistines,

12 the Sidunians, the Amalekites, and the Maunites? When they oppressed you, you cried out to me for help, and I rescued you.

13 Yet you have abandoned me and served other nations pagan idols. So I will not rescue you anymore.

14 Go and cry out to the idols you have chosen! Let them rescue you in your hour of distress!”

15 But the Yasharalym pleaded with  𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH and said, “We have sinned. Punish us as you see fit, only rescue us today from our enemies.”

16 Then the Yasharalym put aside their foreign idols and served 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH. And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH was grieved by their misery.

17 At that time the armies of Ammun had gathered for war and were camped in Gilaad, and the people of Yashar'AL assembled and camped at Mizpah.

18 The leaders of Gilaad said to each other, “Whoever attacks the Ammunites first will become ruler over all the people of Gilaad.”
