Yahusha Ba'Nun (Joshua) — 13

The Land Yet to Be Conquered

1 When Yahusha Ba'Nun was an old man, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH Dabar to him, “You are growing old, and much land remains to be conquered. 

2 This is the territory that remains: all the regions of the Philistines and the Gashurites, 

3 and the larger territory of the Canaanites, extending from the stream of Shihur on the border of Mitzraym, northward to the boundary of Akrun. It includes the territory of the five Philistine rulers of Gaza, Ashdud, Ashkalun, Gath, and Akrun. The land of the Abbites 

4 in the south also remains to be conquered. In the north, the following area has not yet been conquered: all the land of the Canaanites, including Maarah (which belongs to the Sidunians), stretching northward to Aphak on the border of the Amurites; 

5 the land of the Gabalites and all of the Labanun mountain area to the east, from Baal-gad below Mount Harmun to Labu-hamath; 

6 and all the hill country from Labanun to Misraphuth-maim, including all the land of the Sidunians.

“I myself will drive these people out of the land ahead of the Yasharalym. So be sure to give this land to Yashar'AL as a special possession, just as I have commanded you. 

7 Include all this territory as Yashar'AL’s possession when you divide this land among the nine tribes and the half-tribe of Manassah.”

The Land Divided East of the Yurdan

8 Half the tribe of Manassah and the tribes of Rauban and Gad had already received their grants of land on the east side of the Yurdan, for Musha, the servant of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, had previously assigned this land to them.

9 Their territory extended from Aruar on the edge of the Arnun Gurge (including the town in the middle of the gurge) to the plain beyond Madaba, as far as Dibun. 

10 It also included all the towns of King Sihun of the Amurites, who had reigned in Hashbun, and extended as far as the borders of Ammun. 

11 It included Gilaad, the territory of the kingdoms of Gashur and Maacah, all of Mount Harmun, all of Bashan as far as Salacah, 

12 and all the territory of King Ug of Bashan, who had reigned in Ashtaruth and Adray. King Ug was the last of the Raphaites, for Musha had attacked them and driven them out. 

13 But the Yasharalym failed to drive out the people of Gashur and Maacah, so they continue to live among the Yasharalym to this day.

An Allotment for the Tribe of Lauy

14 Musha did not assign any allotment of land to the tribe of Lauy. Instead, as  𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH had promised them, their allotment came from the offerings burned on the altar to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of Yashar'AL.

The Land Given to the Tribe of Rauban 

15 Musha had assigned the following area to the clans of the tribe of Rauban.

16 Their territory extended from Aruar on the edge of the Arnun Gurge (including the town in the middle of the gurge) to the plain beyond Madaba. 

17 It included Hashbun and the other towns on the plain Dibun, Bamuth-baal, Bath-baal-maun, 

18 Yahaz, Kadamuth, Maphaath, 

19 Kiriathaim, Sibmah, Zarath-shahar on the hill above the valley, 

20 Bath-paur, the slopes of Pisgah, and Bath-Yashimuth.

21 The land of Rauban also included all the towns of the plain and the entire kingdom of Sihun. Sihun was the Amurite king who had reigned in Hashbun and was killed by Musha along with the leaders of Midian Aby, Rakam, Zur, Hur, and Raba princes living in the region who were allied with Sihun. 

22 The Yasharalym had also killed Balaam son of Baur, who used magic to tell the future. 

23 The Yurdan River marked the western boundary for the tribe of Rauban. The towns and their surrounding villages in this area were given as a homeland to the clans of the tribe of Rauban.

The Land Given to the Tribe of Gad

24 Musha had assigned the following area to the clans of the tribe of Gad.

25 Their territory included Yazar, all the towns of Gilaad, and half of the land of Ammun, as far as the town of Aruar just west of Rabbah.

26 It extended from Hashbun to Ramath-mizpah and Betunim, and from Mahanaim to the territory of Lu-dabar. 

27 In the valley were Bath-haram, Bath-nimrah, Succuth, Zaphun, and the rest of the kingdom of King Sihun of Hashbun. The western boundary ran along the Yurdan River, extended as far north as the tip of the Sea of Galily, and then turned eastward. 

28 The towns and their surrounding villages in this area were given as a homeland to the clans of the tribe of Gad.

The Land Given to the Half-Tribe of Manassah 

29 Musha had assigned the following area to the clans of the half-tribe of Manassah.

30 Their territory extended from Mahanaim, including all of Bashan, all the former kingdom of King Ug, and the sixty towns of Yair in Bashan. 

31 It also included half of Gilaad and King Ug’s royal cities of Ashtaruth and Adray. All this was given to the clans of the descendants of Makir, who was Manassah’s son.

32 These are the allotments Musha had made while he was on the plains of Muab, across the Yurdan River, east of Yarichu. 

33 But Musha gave no allotment of land to the tribe of Lauy, for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of Yashar'AL, had promised that he himself would be their allotment.
