Yahusha Ba'Nun (Joshua) — 10

Yashar'AL Defeats the Southern Armies

Aduny-zadak, king of Yahushalam heard that Yahusha had captured and completely destroyed Ah and killed its king, just as he had destroyed the town of Yarichu and killed its king. He also learned that the Gybaunites had made Shalum with Yashar'AL and were now their allies.

He and his people became very afraid when they heard all this because Gybaun was a large town, as large as the royal cities and larger than Ah. And the Gybaunite men were strong warriors.

So King Aduny-zadak of Yahushalam sent messengers to several other kings: Huham of Habrun, Piram of Yarmuth, Yaphia of Lachish, and Daabir of Aglun.

“Come and help me destroy Gybaun,” he urged them, “for they have made Shalum with Yahusha and the people of Yashar'AL.”

So these five Amurite kings combined their armies for a united attack. They moved all their troops into place and attacked Gybaun.

The men of Gybaun quickly sent messengers to Yahusha at his camp in Gilgal. “Do not abandon your servants now!” they pleaded. “Come at once! Save us! Help us! For all the Amurite kings who live in the hill country have joined forces to attack us.”

So Yahusha and his entire army, including his best warriors, left Gilgal and set out for Gybaun.

“And 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH Dabar to Yahusha, Do not be afraid of them, “for I have given you victory over them. Not a single one of them will be able to stand up to you.”

Yahusha Ba'Nun traveled all night from Gilgal and took the Amurite armies by surprise.

Then 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH threw them into a panic, and the Yasharalym slaughtered great numbers of them at Gybaun. Then the Yasharalym chased the enemy along the road to Bath-hurun, killing them all along the way to Azakah and Makkadah.

As the Amurites retreated down the road from Bath-hurun, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH destroyed them with a terrible hailstorm from Shamaym that continued until they reached Azakah. The hail killed more of the enemy than the Yasharalym killed with the sword.

On the day 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH gave the Yasharalym victory over the Amurites, Yahusha Ba'Nun prayed to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH in front of all the people of Yashar'AL. He said,

“Let the sun stand still over Gybaun, and the moon over the valley of Aiyalun.”

So the sun stood still and the moon stayed in place until the nation of Yashar'AL had defeated its enemies. Is this not recorded in The Book of Yashar? The sun stayed in the middle of the sky, and it did not set as on a normal day.

There has never been a day like this one before or since, when 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH answered such a prayer. Surely 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH fought for Yashar'AL that day!

Then Yahusha Ba'Nun and the Yasharalym army returned to their camp at Gilgal.

Yahusha Kills the Five Southern Kings

During the battle the five kings escaped and hid in a cave at Makkadah.

When Yahusha heard that they had been found,

he issued this command: “Cover the opening of the cave with large rocks, and place guards at the entrance to keep the kings inside.

The rest of you continue chasing the enemy and cut them down from the rear. Do not give them a chance to get back to their towns, for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH your 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH has given you victory over them.”

So Yahusha and the Yasharalym army continued the slaughter and completely crushed the enemy. They totally wiped out the five armies except for a tiny remnant that managed to reach their fortified towns.

Then the Yasharalym returned safely to Yahusha in the camp at Makkadah. After that, no one dared to speak even a word against Yashar'AL.

Then Yahusha said, “Remove the rocks covering the opening of the cave, and bring the five kings to me.”

So they brought the five kings out of the cave, the kings of Yahushalam, Habrun, Yarmuth, Lachish, and Aglun.

When they brought them out, Yahusha told the commanders of his army, “Come and put your feet on the kings’ necks.” And they did as they were told.

“Do not ever be afraid or discouraged,” Yahusha told his men. “Be strong and courageous, for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH is going to do this to all of your enemies.”

Then Yahusha killed each of the five kings and impaled them on five sharpened poles, where they hung until evening.

As the sun was going down, Yahusha gave instructions for the bodies of the kings to be taken down from the poles and thrown into the cave where they had been hiding. Then they covered the opening of the cave with a pile of large rocks, which remains to this very day.

Yashar'AL Destroys the Southern Towns

That same day Yahusha captured and destroyed the town of Makkadah. He killed everyone in it, including the king, leaving no survivors. He destroyed them all, and he killed the king of Makkadah as he had killed the king of Yarichu.

Then Yahusha and the Yasharalym went to Libnah and attacked it.

There, too, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH gave them the town and its king, he killed everyone in it, leaving no survivors. Then Yahusha killed the king of Libnah as he had killed the king of Yarichu.

From Libnah, Yahusha and the Yasharalym went to Lachish and attacked it.

Here again, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH gave them Lachish. Yahusha took it on the second day and killed everyone in it, just as he had done at Libnah.

During the attack on Lachish, King Huram of Gazar arrived with his army to help defend the town. But Yahusha’s men killed him and his army, leaving no survivors.

Then Yahusha and the Yasharalym army went on to Aglun and attacked it.

They captured it that day and killed everyone in it, he completely destroyed everyone, just as he had done at Lachish.

From Aglun, Yahusha and the Yasharalym army went up to Habrun and attacked it.

They captured the town and killed everyone in it, including its king, leaving no survivors. They did the same thing to all of its surrounding villages. And just as he had done at Aglun, he completely destroyed the entire population.

Then Yahusha and the Yasharalym turned back and attacked Dabir.

He captured the town, its king, and all of its surrounding villages, he completely destroyed everyone in it, leaving no survivors, he did to Dabir and its king just what he had done to Habrun and to Libnah and its king.

So Yahusha conquered the whole region, the kings and people of the hill country, the Nagab, the western foothills, and the mountain slopes. He completely destroyed everyone in the land, leaving no survivors, just as 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of Yashar'AL, had commanded.

Yahusha slaughtered them from Kadash-barnaa to Gaza and from the region around the town of Gushan up to Gybaun.

Yahusha conquered all these kings and their land in a single campaign, for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of Yashar'AL, was fighting for his people.

Then Yahusha Ba'Nun and the Yasharalym army returned to their camp at Gilgal.
