Shamuth (Exodus) — 3
Musha and the Burning Bush
1 One day Musha was tending the flock of his father-in-law Yathru the Kuhan of Midian, Musha led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH.
2 There the Malak of 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH appeared to Musha in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush. Musha stared in amazement. Though the bush was engulfed in flames, it didn’t burn up.
3 “This is amazing,” Musha said to himself. “Why isn’t that bush burning up? I must go see it.”
4 When 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH saw Musha coming to take a closer look, 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH Dabar to Musha from the middle of the bush, “Musha! Musha! “Here I am!” Musha replied.
5 “Do not come any closer,” 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH warned. “Take off your sandals, for you are standing on Qadash ground.
6 I AM the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of your father, the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of Abraham, the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of Yachaq and the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of Ya'aqub.” When Musha heard this, he covered his face because he was afraid to look at 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH.
7 Then 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH told Musha, “I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Mitzraym, I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. Yes, I AM aware of their suffering.
8 So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Mitzraym and lead them out of Mitzraym into their own fertile and spacious land. It is a land flowing with milk and honey, the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amurites, Parizzites, Hiuites, and Yabusites now live.
9 Look! The cry of the people of Yashar'AL has reached me and I have seen how harshly the Mitzraym abuse them.
10 Now go, for I AM sending you to Phar'uh. You must lead my people Yasharalym out of Mitzraym.”
11 But Musha protested to 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH, “Who am I to appear before Phar'uh? Who am I to lead the people of Yashar'AL out of Mitzraym?”
12 And 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH answered, “I will be with you. And this is your sign that I am the one who has sent you: When you have brought the people out of Mitzraym, you will worship 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH at this very mountain.”
13 But Musha protested, “If I go to the people of Yashar'AL and tell them, ‘The 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ they will ask me, ‘What is his Name?’ Then what should I tell them?”
14 And 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH replied to Musha, “Ahayah (I AM who I AM). Say this to the people of Yashar'AL: Ahayah (I AM) has sent me to you.”
15 And 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH also Dabar to Musha, “Say this to the people of Yashar'AL: 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of your ancestors, the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of Abraham, the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of Yachaq and the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of Ya'aqub has sent me to you. 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH is my eternal NAME, my NAME to be remembered for all generations.
16 “Now go and call together all the elders of Yashar'AL, tell them 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of your ancestors, the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of Abraham, Yachaq, and Ya'aqub has appeared to me. 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH told me, “I have been watching closely and I see how the Mitzraym are treating you.
17 I have promised to rescue you from your oppression in Mitzraym. I will lead you to a land flowing with milk and honey, the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amurites, Perizzites, Hibites, and Yabusites now live.”’
18 “The elders of Yashar'AL will accept your message. Then you and the elders must go to the king of Mitzraym and tell him, ‘𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of the Abarym (Hebrews), has met with us. So please let us take a three-day journey into the wilderness to offer sacrifices to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH our 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH.’
19 “But I know that the king of Mitzraym will not let you go unless a mighty hand forces him.
20 So I will raise my hand and strike the Mitzraym, performing all kinds of miracles among them. Then at last he will let you go.
21 And I will cause the Mitzraym to look favorably on you. They will give you gifts when you go so you will not leave empty-handed.
22 Every Yashar'AL woman will ask for articles of silver and gold and fine clothing from her Mitzraym neighbors and from the foreign women in their houses. You will dress your sons and daughters with these, stripping the Mitzraym of their wealth.”
