Barashyt(Genesis) — 16
Now Sharai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. And she had a Mitzraym maidservant whose name was Hagar.
So Sharai said to Abram, “See now, 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her.” And Abram heeded the voice of Sharai.
Then Sharai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar her maid, the Mitzraym, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan.
So Abram had sexual relations with Hagar, and she became pregnant. But when Hagar knew she was pregnant, she began to treat her mistress, Sharai, with contempt.
Then Sharai said to Abram, “This is all your fault! I put my servant into your arms, but now that she’s pregnant she treats me with contempt. 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH will show who’s wrong you or me!
So Abram said to Sharai, “Indeed your maid is in your hand; do to her as you please.” And when Sharai dealt harshly with Hagar, she fled from her presence.
Now the Malak of YAHUAH found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, by the spring on the way to Shur.
And the Malak said, “Hagar, Sharai’s maid, where have you come from, and where are you going?” She said, “I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sharai.”
The Malak of YAHUAH Dabar to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hand.”
Then the Malak of YAHUAH Dabar to her, “I will multiply your descendants exceedingly, so that they shall not be counted for multitude.”
And the Malak of YAHUAH Dabar to her: “Behold, you are with child, And you shall bear a son. You shall call his name Ishma'al, Because YAHUAH has heard your affliction.
Ishma'al shall be a wild man; His hand shall be against every man, And every man’s hand against him. And he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.”
Then she called the name of 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH who spoke to her, AL RU'Y (You Are ALUAH Who Sees) for she said, “Have I now sees the One who sees me?”
Therefore the well was called Baar Lahay Ru'y; observe, it is between Kadash and Barad.
So Hagar bore Abram a son; and Abram named his son, whom Hagar bore, Ishma'al.
Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore Ishma'al to Abram.
