Yusyahu Celebrates the Passakh (Passover)
1 Yusyahu kept the Passakh to his 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH in Yahushalam; he killed the Passakh lamb on the fourteenth day of the first month,
2 having placed the Kuhanym according to their divisions, arrayed in their garments, in the temple of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH.
3 And he told the Lauym, the temple servants of Yashar'AL, that they should sanctify themselves to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH and put the Qadash ark of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH in the house which Shalumah the king, the son of Daud, had built;
4 and he said, “You need no longer carry it upon your shoulders. Now worship 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH your 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH and you people of Yashar'AL serve 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH alone; and prepare yourselves by your families and kindred,
5 in accordance with the directions of Daud king of Yashar'AL and the magnificence of Shalumah Daud's son. Stand in order in the temple according to the groupings of the fathers’ houses of you Lauym, who minister before your brethren the people of Yashar'AL,
6 and kill the Passakh lamb and prepare the sacrifices for your brethren, and keep the Passakh according to the commandment of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH which was given to Musha.”
7 And Yusyahu gave to the people who were present thirty thousand lambs and kids, and three thousand calves; these were given from the king’s possessions, as he promised, to the people and the Kuhanym and Lauym.
8 And Hilkyahu, Zacharyahu, and Yahyal, the chief officers of the temple, gave to the Kuhanym for the Passakh two thousand six hundred sheep and three hundred calves.
9 And Yacunyahu and Shamayahu and Nathanal his brother, and Hashabyah and Uchial and Yuram, captains over thousands, gave the Lauym for the Passakh five thousand sheep and seven hundred calves.
10 And this is what took place. The Kuhanym and the Lauym properly arrayed and having the unleavened bread, stood according to kindred
11 and the grouping of the fathers’ houses, before the people, to make the offering to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH as it is written in the Turah; this they did in the morning.
12 They roasted the Passakh lamb with fire, as required; and they boiled the sacrifices in brass pots and caldrons, with a pleasing odor,
13 and carried them to all the people. Afterward they prepared the Passakh for themselves and for their brethren the Kuhanym, the sons of Aarun,
14 because the Kuhanym were offering the fat until night; so the Lauym prepared it for themselves and for their brethren the Kuhanym, the sons of Aarun.
15 And the temple singers, the sons of Asaph, were in their place according to the arrangement made by Daud, and also Asaph, Zacharyahu, and Addinus, who represented the king.
16 The gatekeepers were at each gate; no one needed to depart from his duties, for their brethren the Lauym prepared the Passakh for them.
17 So the things that had to do with the sacrifices to 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH were accomplished that day: the Passakh was kept
18 and the sacrifices were offered on the altar of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, according to the command of King Yusyahu.
19 And the people of Yashar'AL who were present at that time kept the Passakh and the feast of unleavened bread seven days.
20 No Passakh like it had been kept in Yashar'AL since the times of Shamual the Nabym;
21 none of the kings of Yashar'AL had kept such a Passakh as was kept by Yusyahu and the Kuhanym and Lauym and the men of Yahudah and all of Yashar'AL who were dwelling in Yahushalam.
22 In the eighteenth year of the reign of Yusyahu this passover was kept.
23 And the deeds of Yusyahu were upright in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, for his heart was full of righteousness.
24 The events of his reign have been recorded in the past, concerning those who sinned and acted wickedly toward 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH beyond any other people or kingdom, and how they grieved 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH deeply, so that the Dabar of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH rose up against Yashar'AL.
The End of Yusyahu’s Reign
25 After all these acts of Yusyahu, it happened that Pharuh, king of Mitzraym, went to make war at Carchamish on the Euphrates, and Yusyahu went out against him.
26 And the king of Egypt sent word to him saying, “What have we to do with each other, king of Yahudah?
27 I was not sent against you by 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH your 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH, for my war is at the Euphrates. And now 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH is with me! 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH is with me, urging me on! Stand aside, and do not oppose 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH.”
28 But Yusyahu did not turn back to his chariot, but tried to fight with him, and did not heed the words of Yaramyahu the Nabym from the mouth of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH.
29 He joined battle with him in the plain of Magiddu, and the commanders came down against King Yusyahu.
30 And the king said to his servants, “Take me away from the battle, for I am very weak.” And immediately his servants took him out of the line of battle.
31 And he got into his second chariot; and after he was brought back to Yahushalam he died, and was buried in the tomb of his fathers.
32 And all Yahudah mourned for Yusyahu. Yaramyahu the Nabym lamented for Yusyahu, and the principal men, with the women, have made lamentation for him to this day; it was ordained that this should always be done throughout the whole nation of Yashar'AL.
33 These things are written in the book of the histories of the kings of Yahudah; and every one of the acts of Yusyahu, and his splendor, and his understanding of the Turah of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, and the things that he had done before and these that are now told, are recorded in the book of the kings of Yashar'AL and Yahudah.
The Last Kings of Yahudah
34 And the men of the nation took Yacunyahu the son of Yusyahu, who was twenty-three years old, and made him king in succession to Yusyahu his father.
35 And he reigned three months in Yahudah and Yahushalam. Then the king of Mitzraym deposed him from reigning in Yahushalam,
36 and fined the nation a hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.
37 And the king of Mitzraym made Yahuiakim his brother king of Yahudah and Yahushalam.
38 Yahuiakim put the nobles in prison, and seized his brother Zarius and brought him up out of Mitzraym.
39 Yahuiakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign in Yahudah and Yahushalam, and he did what was evil in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH.
40 And Nabuchadnazzar king of Babylun came up against him, and bound him with a chain of brass and took him away to Babylun.
41 Nabuchadnazzar also took some Qadash vessels of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, and carried them away, and stored them in his temple in Babylun.
42 But the things that are reported about Yahuiakim and his uncleanness and impiety are written in the chronicles of the kings.
43 Yahuiachin his son became king in his stead; when he was made king he was eighteen years old,
44 and he reigned three months and ten days in Yahushalam. He did what was evil in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH.
45 So after a year Nabuchadnazzar sent and removed him to Babylun, with the Qadash vessels of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH,
46 and made Zadakyahu king of Yahudah and Yahushalam.
Zadakyahu was twenty-one years old, and he reigned eleven years.
47 He also did what was evil in the sight of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, and did not heed the words that were spoken by Yaramyahu the Nabym from the mouth of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH.
48 And though King Nabuchadnazzar had made him swear by the name of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, he broke his oath and rebelled; and he stiffened his neck and hardened his heart and transgressed the laws of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of Yashar'AL.
49 Even the leaders of the people and of the Kuhanym committed many acts of sacrilege and lawlessness beyond all the unclean deeds of all the nations, and polluted the temple of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH which had been Sanctified in Yahushalam.
50 So the 𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄_ALUAH of their fathers sent by his messenger to call them back, because he would have spared them and his dwelling place.
51 But they mocked His messengers, and whenever 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH Dabar, they scoffed at 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH's Nabym,
52 until in 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH's anger against His people because of their Unrighteous acts, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH gave command to bring against them the kings of the Chaldaans.
53 They slew their young men with the sword around their Qadash temple, and did not spare young man or virgin, old man or child, for 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH gave them all into their hands.
54 And all the Qadash vessels of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, great and small, and the treasure chests of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH, and the royal stores, they took and carried away to Babylun.
55 And they burned the house of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH and broke down the walls of Yahushalam and burned their towers with fire,
56 and utterly destroyed all its awesome things. The survivors he led away to Babylun with the sword,
57 and they were servants to him and to his sons until the Persians began to reign, in fulfilment of the Dabar of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄_YAHUAH by the mouth of Yaramyahu:
58 “Until the land has enjoyed its shabbats, it shall keep shabbat all the time of its desolation until the completion of seventy years.”
