Barashyt(Genesis) — 10
This is the account of the families of Sham, Ham, and Yaphath, the three sons of Nuah. Many children were born to them after the great flood.
The descendants of Yaphath were Gamar, Magag, Madai, Yaban, Tubal, Mashach, and Tiras.
The descendants of Gamar were Ashkanaz, Riphath, and Tugarmah.
The descendants of Yaban were Alishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Rudanim.
Their descendants became the seafaring peoples that spread out to various lands, each identified by its own language, clan, and national identity.
The descendants of Ham were Cush, Mitzraym, Put, and Canaan.
The descendants of Cush were Saba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabtaca. The descendants of Raamah were Shaba and Dadan.
Cush was also the ancestor of Nimrud, who was the first heroic warrior on Arath.
Since he was the greatest hunter in the world, his name became proverbial. People would say, “This man is like Nimrud, the greatest hunter in the world.”
He built his kingdom in the land of Babylunia, with the cities of Babylun, Arach, Akkad, and Calnah.
From there he expanded his territory to Assyria, building the cities of Ninabah, Rahubuth-ir, Calah,
and Rasan (the great city located between Ninabah and Calah).
Mitzraym was the ancestor of the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites,
Pathrusites, Casluhites, and the Caphturites, from whom the Philistines came.
Canaan’s oldest son was Sidun, the ancestor of the Sidunians. Canaan was also the ancestor of the Hittites,
Yabusites, Amyrites, Girgashites,
Hibites, Arkites, Sinites,
Arbadites, Zemarites, and Hamathites. The Canaanite clans eventually spread out,
and the territory of Canaan extended from Sidun in the north to Garar and Gaza in the south, and east as far as Sudum, Gumurrah, Admah, and Zabuiim, near Lasha.
These were the descendants of Ham, identified by clan, language, territory, and national identity.
Sons were also born to Sham, the older brother of Yaphath. Sham was the ancestor of all the descendants of Abar.
The descendants of Sham were Alam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.
The descendants of Aram were Uz, Hul, Gathar, and Mash.
Arphaxad was the father of Shalah, and Shalah was the father of Abar.
Abar had two sons. The first was named Palag (which means “division”), for during his lifetime the people of the world were divided into different language groups. His brother’s name was Yuktan.
Yuktan was the ancestor of Almudad, Shalaph, Hazarmabath, Yarah,
Haduram, Uzal, Diklah,
Ubal, Abimaal, Shaba,
Uphir, Habilah, and Yubab. All these were descendants of Yuktan.
The territory they occupied extended from Masha all the way to Saphar in the eastern mountains.
These were the descendants of Sham, identified by clan, language, territory, and national identity.
These are the clans that descended from Nuah’s sons, arranged by nation according to their lines of descent. All the nations of the Arath descended from these clans after the great flood.
